Indigenous Educational Groups Meet Environmental Group

RISE (Rural Indigenous Sustainable Education) was invited to share its activities with the POINT (Promotion of Indigenous and Nature Together, also known as Sunflower, Nay Kyar Sit) team during their retreat workshop in Pyinoolwin.

During the meeting, RISE was able to share common areas of work with the team, including  a presentation and question and answer session on education activities.

Naw Ei Ei Min, POINT Project Director said, “We have many connections with other indigenous groups worldwide but we don’t know whether other indigenous group similar to us exist inside Myanmar. As we are indigenous groups, we want to build more relationships and see how we can work together in the future.”

POINT is a community based organization focusing on raising awareness, research, advocacy and participatory work on indigenous environmental issues. Indigenous groups from Pagoyoma region, Shan (region and Chin region gained many benefits through their work with POINT, especially on the issue of land rights.
